MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Former Memphis Grizzlies star Tony Allen has been arrested on drug charges in Arkansas.
Allen, 43, was booked Wednesday afternoon after a traffic stop. Sheriff Kevin Molder said Allen was a passenger in a car driven by William Hatton.
Allen and Hatton were both charged with possession of meth or cocaine less than 2 grams, and possession of marijuana, less than 4 grams.
The deputy who stopped them detected an odor of marijuana, leading to a search, Molder said.
Deputies say they found a green leafy substance consistent with marijuana. Inside a cigarette box near where Allen was seated, they allegedly found a bag of cocaine.
Allen and Hatton were taken to the Poinsett County Detention Center.
Allen played with the Memphis Grizzlies from 2010 to 2017 during the team’s Core Four era. His home address is listed in Memphis.
This is not Allen’s first brush with the law. In 2023, he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit health care fraud and wire fraud.
In 2021, he was arrested on charges related to domestic violence.
