(NewsNation) — The co-founder of Blaze Media says Zohran Mamdani’s message about the rich has a distorted meaning behind it.
“You’re getting money from George Soros, Bill Gates, the Tides Foundation,” Glenn Beck told NewsNation’s Batya Ungar-Sargon on Saturday. “Don’t talk to me about the rich. The rich are calling the shots in your own campaign and your own life. And I find it reprehensible.”
Earlier this week, Mamdani defeated former Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa in New York City’s mayoral election.
Mamdani’s campaign homed in on affordability in a city that has long been viewed as way too expensive. And his campaign ran so hard on that issue, it became synonymous with his campaign from start to finish.
Beck believes that a lot of Mamdani’s words harken back to “Teddy Roosevelt’s hyphen-American speech.” Roosevelt, a former president, used the narrative as a way to insult Americans who had divided political or national loyalties.
“Every time a politician starts dividing us into class and into hyphen-Americans, you’re planting the seeds of our own destruction,” Beck added about Mamdani.
Mamdani’s desire to globalize infitada a warning sign: Beck
Beck acknowledged while he believes Mamdani is a committed Marxist, his desire to “globalize the infitada” could become worrisome.
“He doesn’t really have a bad thing to say about Hamas, that’s another bad sign,” said Beck. “That’s not Islam, that’s an Islamist who goes to that space. And a very, very dangerous one.”
“Unfortunately, he’s not the only one. We’re seeing it happen, and they are all coming in sheep’s clothing all over the West. If we don’t pay attention, we’re in trouble.”
