(NewsNation) — Elijah Wood surprised a couple in New Zealand who were getting married at a Hobbit-themed wedding on Monday.
In a video shared by the official Hobbiton Movie Set Instagram account, Wood can be seen sneaking into the wedding as the bride and groom are getting ready to sign their wedding documents at the tourist spot, the Shire, home of the hobbits in the “The Lord of the Rings” movies.
Cath Ullyett, the couple’s wedding photographer, took to Instagram and shared the special moment.
“While Sharik and Jessica were signing their wedding documents, Elijah and his family were escorted past the ceremony garden and had stopped to watch,” she wrote.
She continued, “After the couple had finished signing, I rushed around to meet him and asked him to come and have a few photos with the couple. Being the gentleman he is, he didn’t want to interfere; however, with some friendly encouragement, he stepped in and was welcomed by all.”
Wood starred as Frodo Baggins in “The Lord of the Rings” film trilogy, released in the early 2000s.
The movies were a massive success, having earned nearly $3 billion at the global box office.
The third movie, “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King,” won the Academy Award for Best Picture at the 2004 Oscars.
