Capitol Police say they arrested man who threatened to kill lawmaker

(The Hill) — Capitol Police arrested a man accused of threatening to kill a lawmaker, the department said. 

Richard Griffin, of Pennsylvania, was blocked from entering the Russell Senate Office Building on Tuesday after a member of the Capitol Police Rapid Response Team recognized him from an Oct. 28 bulletin, according to a release from Capitol Police.

“We will not tolerate any threats to the Members of Congress, their families, or staff,” Capitol Police Chief Michael Sullivan said in a statement. 

Griffin, 43, has a history of emailing a congressional office, as well as various government officials and law enforcement agencies, Capitol Police said. He is accused of making threats to do bodily harm.
