(NewsNation) — Actress Allison Mack is finally speaking about her involvement in the NXIVM cult, which led to her serving time in prison, in her new podcast.
Mack, who played fan favorite Chloe Sullivan on “Smallville,” launched a new seven-part podcast on Monday called “Allison after NXIVM from Uncover.”
In the first two episodes of the show, she said she became very invested in the sex cult almost immediately, and she ended up leaving acting and her home to move across the country to live near NXIVM leader Keith Raniere, according to Men’s Journal.
Allison Mack pleaded guilty to racketeering and conspiracy
NXIVM was a self-help program that prosecutors claimed operated as a criminal organization. Co-conspirators, including Mack, were influenced by Raniere to recruit and groom sexual partners for him, according to The Associated Press.
Mack pleaded guilty to racketeering and conspiracy in April 2019 and was accused of manipulating women into becoming sex slaves for Raniere.
The “Smallville” actress was sentenced to three years in prison in 2021 but was released early, serving 21 months.
Raniere was convicted on racketeering, alien smuggling, sex trafficking, extortion and obstruction of justice charges. He was sentenced to 120 years in prison in 2020.
Allison Mack claims willful ignorance about NXIVM
In the first episode of the podcast, Mack said she was purposely ignorant of a lot of what was happening in NXIVM, saying, “I purposely kept myself from hearing things that would’ve been uncomfortable for me.”
Mack admits she had a sexual relationship with Raniere but accuses him of manipulating and grooming her and other women in the cult.
“If I recognized that Keith was manipulating all of us, and that this was a strategy for his own perversion, I had to acknowledge what I had chosen and that I had hurt people,” she said.
